Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure in which the excess fat and sagging skin tissue in the middle and lower abdomen is removed and the abdominal muscles are stretched and tightened.

Tummy Tuck surgery process

First, general anesthesia is applied to the patient. As with every anesthesia, the person is anesthetized according to the height, weight and age of the person. Depending on the type of tummy tuck to be applied, incisions are opened and stretching is performed and the incisions are sutured and the operation is completed.

What are the types of Tummy Tuck surgery?

There are 2 types of tummy tuck surgery. The reason of being 2 types is the change in operation depth according to the intensity of the sags and folds in the abdomen.

Type 1 Classic Tummy Tuck Operation: It is an operation for very dense sagging. It takes 2-3 hours.

Type 2 Partial Tummy Tuck Operation: It is an operation performed for non-intense sagging. It takes 1-2 hours.

Who can have Tummy Tuck surgery?

People who are stable in weight, who do not have health problems that may prevent recovery or increase the risk of surgery, who have realistic goals, who are determined to maintain a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, fitness, are suitable candidates for Tummy Tuck surgery. This surgery is not recommended for people who are planning to give birth and have not tried diet and weight loss methods.

Things to consider before the surgery?

Your medical evaluation will be made before the operation. It is important that you inform your doctor about all medications you use. Alcohol and smoking should be stopped before the operation and the use of blood thinners such as aspirin should be avoided.

Things to consider after the surgery?

You may need to use an elastic bandage or corset over the incisions during healing to minimize swelling and to support your abdomen while healing after surgery. Care should be taken to use cosmetic and chemical products. It may be necessary to rest for 1 to 2 weeks after the operation. During this period, heavy activities that will affect the abdomen should not be done.
